What is Automatic Delivery and HOW does it work?
Quite Simply: With Automatic Delivery, you don't need to call us for your fuel, we'll bring it to you when you need it. HOW do we do that? Our computer system forecasts your delivery by measuring how much fuel your system uses between fill-ups, and then compares that information to the number of DEGREE DAYS that have elapsed as well. WHAT is a DEGREE DAY? Stay with me here - a Degree Day is the measurement of how far the average temperature is below 65 degrees. In example, if the high for the day is 39 and the low is 15, then 65-39=26, and 65-15=50, 50+26=76, and 76/2=38. That day would generate 38 degree days. Too much information! The easiest way to think about it is to compare it to your car, which gets miles per gallon. We measure Degree Days per gallon. It's almost that simple.
Almost. There are a few things that will throw off our computer. Someone moves in with you. Building an addition. Installing new equipment. Using an alternate heat source (ie: a coal or wood stove). An Illness in the family that necessitates turning up the temperature for an extened period.
Our computers do a great job forcasting your next delivery. The problem is that they are computers. They can't think. The bottom line is: We don't want you to run out of fuel. And we are going to do everything we can to NOT let that happen. But we need your help. If there has been a change that you think might affect how much fuel you are going to use, please notify the office.
